The Vegetarian Butcher is plant-based meat company that was originally founded in the Netherlands and recently became part of Unilever. TVB fits with Unilever’s strategy to expand its portfolio into plant-based foods that are healthier and have a lower environmental impact. Unilever is thus responding to the growing trend among consumers to increasingly opt for vegetarian and vegan meals. For the Vegetarian Butcher, this is a great opportunity for to use Unilever’s worldwide network to take the next step in its ambition to grow into ‘the largest butcher in the world’.

Your goal is to help expand the Vegetarian Butcher taking into account its mission and its contribution to the USLP plan, which you will find in the pages below along the Future 50 report, where you can also find inspiration for the future of food (all details will be shared during the workshop).

The workshop will be an interactive case-solving activity where students can experience how matters involving marketing are dealt with at JDE. Students will be divided into groups during the activity they will receive a pamphlet with information to work with. After analyzing the data the students will come up with a new creative marketing strategy. The Bluefield workshop is based on a question that we as Bluefield received from a private equity company:

They had bought four companies in four different countries with services in the same line of work, but all with a different way of working (process), different IT tools (systems) and a different culture.

The goal of this private equity company was to merge these 4 companies, in order to create a globally operating company.

The question was asked to investigate the state of these companies on the above points (processes, systems, and culture) and to formulate a project plan to realize the merger.

This case is a simplified version of the question asked by Bluefield. You will be provided with research from us and then first be asked to provide an analysis of the current situation, after which you will also work on the elaboration of the plan and consider what the companies must do in order to be able to be merged.

During our workshop we take you into the world of Lidl. You will learn more about our unique retail formula and we will challenge you to think about relevant themes for us. This workshop focuses on one of the crucial, non-technical roles within IT: Business/Information Analyst. You’ll work in small teams to solve our unique and challenging Heineken Case, where you’ll experience what it takes to be a Business Analyst. Creativity and out-of-the-box thinking are required to guarantee a successful solution!

During this Calco case, you will experience what it is like to work in IT without programming. Is that possible? Hell yes! Information analysts must have excellent communication skills to uncover incomplete information from all stakeholders and create valuable IT solutions. Essential features include listening, creative thinking, and asking questions. Will you join the workshop to find out if you could be an information analyst?

A large national grid operator (Energy4You, or E4Y), faces an operational problem of reducing power outages, which affects a large part of the organisation. E4Y is unable to independently tackle the right causes. The organisation asked you to analyse the problem and advise them. First, a thorough analysis is required of the current business process. Then you will get access to two truth-based datasets. By analysing these datasets you get insights into possible explanations and causes of the problems of E4Y. By combining knowledge of the process and the data analysis, it is your job to come to a tailored solution. All solutions are presented and one group will win the challenge (and a nice prize).

We would like the participants of this workshop to think with us about how to grow even further with the bite size segment considering sustainability. Questions that should be answered are how to get customers attracted to buying from the Mars Bitesize portfolio. This challenging case will touch upon sales as well as marketing and we expect the participants to think outside of the box and come up with creative ideas. Besides, it will give you a real-life perspective on what to take into account when working in a multinational with ambitious commitments.

Our workshop is divided in three parts: SCM assignment // energizer by lean game // IE assignment

1. We will first introduce you to our organization. We will discuss the impact of external factors on the supply chain. To still get parts in on time, from a strategic perspective: what would you advise CPP to do to avoid such risks?

2. To simulate the assembly process of CPP, we play a game with Lego bricks, where you start assembling a Lego car as efficiently as possible. In this game we simulate a classic warehouse. You will be faced with optimization steps that are similar to the daily continuous improvement cycle that is carried out at Canon Manufacturing, with the goal of producing as lean as possible.

3. We now know that parts are going to be delivered to Venlo and have to be assembled. If you were responsible for setting up this assembly line, making sure that the right parts got to the right place, and making sure that the assembly workers could put this device together, how would you go about it? We will create groups of 4 people with whom you can think about some concrete questions. Finally, we will discuss these ideas.

We will present various cases related to our business lines. We have seven departments that are treated individually per case. Agency, Capital Markets, Valuations, Design & Development, Occupier Services, Asset Services and Hotels departments are discussed.

At Nielsen, we understand what consumers watch and buy. For this case, you will experience what it is like to be a Nielsen analytic consultant for one of the FMCG A-brands in the market. We will provide you with a PowerPoint deck with some charts based on a real-life market situation. You will unlock the true benefits of the data we have. Which insights are most relevant for the client? What trends are big and important? It will be your challenge to find answers to the client’s questions and to give recommendations to grow their business.

During the workshop you will be introduced with the PostNL traineeships. We offer 4 traineeships in Finance, Business, Logistics and IT. All important information will be shared. A challenging case shared under the supervision of 2 trainees. During the case we expect out of the box and creative ideas. Of course there is time to ask questions to the trainees and the PostNL team. We will be present with recruiters and trainees. We are looking forward to meet you all in person!

Simon-Kucher & Partners will host an interactive case solving workshops where we will give a short introduction into our company and our projects. This will be followed by an interactive case solving session where the participants will solve a case together in small groups. This case will be based on our projects to make sure the participants get a good idea of what our day to day projects look like.

We are interested in very broad profiles, but it is important that the participants have experience with or affinity with quantitative skills as this is a very important aspect in our work.
